Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island called West Island. Many people unfamiliar with the word frequently think that it's an island that's west of Montreal However, in reality the West Island is home to all things from the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is commonly called her birthplace. It is true that she stayed there for a short time. Brugel grew up in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. Her first ambition was to be a dancer. But, a growing spurt caused her to outgrow all of the dance partners she had. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. Once I outgrew male partners at that point, I gave up. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In Brugel's case, it was the encouragement from her drama teacher at her high school which pushed her in the direction she wanted. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to take on a part in the annual school production. The teacher who suggested she pursue a part the school's annual show. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than twenty years, and she's appeared in 60 different productions that have screened on large screens and on smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was as Rita (pictured beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the sole Canadian in the season 1 cast of the show as well as appearing only on occasion, was the sole Canadian.
